How My Burn Quest handles your information.
Effective date: June 10, 2026
App: My Burn Quest (com.myburnquest.app)

1. Who we are
My Burn Quest (“we,” “us,” or “the app”) is a food adventure and activity-tracking app for iPhone and Apple Watch, published at www.myburnquest.com. This policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the app.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Data stored on your device
Most app data is stored locally on your iPhone (and synced to your paired Apple Watch where applicable), including:
- Meal logs, quest cart items, and energy-coin budgets
- Restaurant visits, saved locations, and menu preferences
- Quest progress, XP, custom quests, and co-op crew state
- Journey photos and handoff/order analytics
- App settings (gamified mode, sounds, haptics, flame themes, reminders)
- Plate-scan counts and on-device scan photos (when you use food scanning)
This data is used to power your personal food journey, quests, and reports. It is not uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly enable a cloud feature described below.
2.2 Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your permission, My Burn Quest reads selected metrics from Apple Health, such as:
- Active energy (calorie burn), steps, and distance
- Workouts (including My Burn Quest workouts started from the app or watch)
- Heart rate, resting heart rate, blood oxygen (SpOâ‚‚), and wrist temperature
- Blood glucose and body mass when available in Health
Health data is processed on your device to show burn metrics, intensity estimates, and weekly health reports. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising. You can revoke Health access anytime in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → My Burn Quest.
Optional: you may pair a Bluetooth CGM sensor in Settings. BLE connections are managed on-device; readings may appear in the app for informational context only.
2.3 Location
Location is optional. Depending on your Settings preference, the app may use:
- When in use — to center the adventure map and suggest nearby menus while the app is open.
- Visit detection — to detect arrivals at restaurants and surface quest prompts.
You can set detection to “Manual only” or disable location permission in iOS Settings at any time.
2.4 Sign in with Apple
If you sign in with Apple (required to start a Pro free trial), we receive:
- A stable Apple user identifier (per Apple Developer Team)
- Your display name and email address, only if you choose to share them with the app
This is used to verify trial eligibility and personalize your profile. Restore purchases and subscribing without a trial do not require Sign in with Apple.
2.5 Subscriptions (App Store)
Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We receive subscription status and product identifiers to unlock Pro features. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Manage subscriptions in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
2.6 Community heatmap (optional)
If you enable Contribute anonymous activity in Settings, the app sends blurred geohash cells (approximate area buckets, precision ~5) and a weekly activity count to our backend. We do not send your exact GPS coordinates, name, Apple ID, or meal details with heatmap contributions. You can disable this at any time.
2.7 Trial verification backend
To prevent duplicate Pro free trials, a hashed Apple user identifier may be sent to our secure backend (Supabase Edge Functions) when you sign in with Apple and start a trial. This stores minimal enrollment state — not your meal logs or Health data.
2.8 Notifications
If you enable daily log reminders, the app schedules local notifications at your chosen time. Notification permission is controlled in iOS Settings.
2.9 Apple Watch sync
Energy coins, quest state, and workout handoff data sync between iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple’s WatchConnectivity framework over the encrypted Apple ecosystem. This does not pass through our servers.
2.10 Menu and nutrition data
Restaurant menu searches may call third-party nutrition APIs through a secure proxy. These requests contain search terms (e.g., brand names) — not your personal identity or Health data.
3. How we use information
We use collected information to:
- Provide core app features (logging, quests, maps, burn tracking, reports)
- Sync state between iPhone and Apple Watch
- Verify Pro trial eligibility and manage subscription entitlements
- Show optional anonymous community heatmap activity
- Send optional local reminders you configure
- Improve reliability and respond to support requests
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data retention and deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
Delete all my data: Settings → Privacy → Delete all my data permanently removes meal logs, visits, quest progress, saved orders, co-op crews, journey photos, preferences, and related on-device records. This does not cancel an App Store subscription.
Heatmap contributions are aggregated counts without personal identifiers and may persist in aggregate form. Trial verification records are retained only as long as needed to enforce one trial per Apple ID.
5. Sharing with third parties
We may share limited data with service providers that help us operate the app:
- Apple — HealthKit, Sign in with Apple, StoreKit, Maps, WatchConnectivity, and push/local notifications infrastructure.
- Supabase — optional trial verification and anonymous heatmap aggregation (when those features are enabled and configured).
- Nutrition API providers — menu search queries via our proxy (no Health or identity data).
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public.
6. Your choices and controls
- Revoke Health, Location, Notifications, and Bluetooth permissions in iOS Settings.
- Disable community heatmap contribution in app Settings.
- Pause monitoring or turn off sounds, haptics, and animations in Settings.
- Delete all local data from Settings → Privacy.
- Manage or cancel Pro subscriptions through Apple’s subscription settings.
7. Children’s privacy
My Burn Quest is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@myburnquest.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard practices for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and rely on Apple’s on-device encryption for local app storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; use a device passcode and keep iOS updated.
9. International users
If you use My Burn Quest outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, subject to applicable law.
10. Health disclaimer
My Burn Quest provides nutrition and activity estimates for informational purposes only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Calorie burn follows Apple’s active energy estimates; glucose and scan results are not clinical readings. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version at myburnquest.com/privacy/ with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
