Frequently asked questions

How do I install the Apple Watch app?

The watch app ships inside the iPhone app — do not run a watch-only scheme to your Apple Watch. Install My Burn Quest on your iPhone from the App Store, then open the Watch app on iPhone, scroll to My Burn Quest, and turn on Show App on Apple Watch.

The watch app won’t install or keeps disconnecting

Try these steps in order:

  1. Ensure Developer Mode is on (Watch → Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode) if you’re testing a dev build.
  2. Keep iPhone and Watch paired, unlocked, and on the same Wi‑Fi.
  3. Delete My Burn Quest from both iPhone and Watch, restart both devices, then reinstall from iPhone.
  4. Re-open the app on iPhone once, then on Watch.

Still stuck? Email support@myburnquest.com with your watch model and iOS/watchOS versions.

How do Pro subscriptions work?

My Burn Quest Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple’s App Store (StoreKit). Plans include monthly and yearly billing. Pro unlocks seasonal quests, co-op crews, plate scans, flame themes, saved loadouts, and expanded visit detection.

Manage or cancel: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → My Burn Quest. You can also tap Manage subscription inside the app’s Settings screen.

Restore purchases: Settings → Pro → Restore purchases (no Apple sign-in required).

Why do I need Sign in with Apple for a free trial?

Sign in with Apple helps us offer one Pro free trial per Apple ID and prevent abuse. Restore purchases and subscribing without a trial still work without signing in. We receive a stable Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email.

Why isn’t my burn meter or vitals updating?

My Burn Quest reads active energy, heart rate, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, and related metrics from Apple Health when you grant permission. Open the Burn tab and allow Health access when prompted. Wear your Apple Watch for the freshest vitals. If monitoring is paused, resume it in Settings.

Calorie burn uses Apple’s active energy estimate. Glucose and weight readings are informational only — not medical readings.

How does location work?

Location is optional. In Settings you can choose:

  • Manual only — search restaurants yourself.
  • When using app — suggest menus when the app is open nearby.
  • Visit detection — quest prompts when you arrive at restaurants.

You control location permission in iOS Settings at any time.

What is the community heatmap?

When you opt in under Settings → Community heatmap, the app contributes anonymous, blurred location cells (geohash buckets — not your exact coordinates or identity) to show busy lunch spots on the adventure map. You can turn this off anytime.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Settings → Privacy → Delete all my data. This permanently removes meal logs, visits, quest progress, saved orders, co-op crews, journey photos, and preferences stored on your iPhone. Your App Store subscription is not affected — cancel that separately in iOS Subscriptions if needed.

See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Is My Burn Quest medical advice?

No. Nutrition estimates, calorie burn, glucose context, and health reports are for informational purposes only. My Burn Quest is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat conditions. If you have concerns about eating or exercise, consult a healthcare professional. Resources: NEDA.

Which devices are supported?

My Burn Quest requires a compatible iPhone running a supported version of iOS. The Apple Watch companion, widgets, Live Activities, and complications require a paired Apple Watch and are optional. HealthKit features require a device that supports Apple Health.
